Big Sky Country
After leaving West Yellowstone, I traveled north on highway US-191 through Big Sky, Gallatin Gateway, and Three Forks before landing at a dispersed campsite on the Missouri River near Canyon Ferry. I spent the night there, then headed west and found a campground in Turah. I stayed for a few nights and checked out Missoula before heading north to Glacier. I took US-93 and a beautiful scenic route that followed along side Flathead Lake to Bigfork. I found a dispersed camping area five minutes down the road from the national park entrance. I started my 2-week vacation on Wednesday, and took the day to drive the Going-to-the-sun Road in Glacier National Park. I got dinner that night at the historic Belton Chalet which was built by the Great Northern Railroad and opened in the early 1900s. Thursday I found a path down to the Middle fork Flathead River and took the dogs down to relax and swim, and got to watch a train go by from only a few hundred yards away.
