The Land of Entrapment

Ruidoso

Camped for a week on some BLM land on the side of FS117. Another quaint mountain top town, high in altitude, with small shops that were interesting to walk around in. Tried beer from the two breweries in town. Did some hiking in Lincoln National Forest, and even saw some wild horses. Drove to the top of Monjeau Peak, situated at almost 10K ft, where an old fire lookout tower was built in the 1930's

Yamaha TW200

Decided to buy a small dirt bike to put on the back of the camper. Found the one I wanted on Facebook Marketplace, so I traveled to Elephant Butte to check it out. It's a 2008, with 1650 miles, always garaged and never rode hard. Owned by an older gentleman, so it was kept very clean. Took it home on the back of the truck, then it mounted up real nice to the back of the camper.

Albuquerque & Sandia Mountains

I intended to stay in the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque for the week so I could grab oil change supplies from the Yamaha dealer, but a Forest Service park ranger stopped by on patrol on told me my spot wasn't good. There are "official" dispersed camping sites in that part of the forest, and they don't want people using just any old pull-off. He was extremely nice and offered to show me where some of the other sites were. I chose to head down to an RV park in Tijeras though, because the other sites were just too far away from town.

Turquoise Trail and Santa Fe

On Saturday I headed up to Santa Fe on the Turquoise Trail (NM route 14), which brought you through multiple small towns and Pueblos. The weather was perfect, sunny & 60's with beautiful vistas along the way. I found a site on FS102 just inside the boundary of Santa Fe National Forest to camp for the week, 25 minutes outside the city.
