Welcome to the Northeast Kingdom

After leaving New Hampshire, I headed west into Vermont this week. I followed route VT 102 up along the river, then VT 114 west and south and landed in the town of Island Pond. I ate dinner at the Essex House & Tavern, then found a spot in the Brighton town forest to boondock for the night.
I packed up early and headed towards lake Willoughby to find a place to work from for the day. GPS navigation took me on some back roads to get there, and on the way I came across Sentinel Rock State Park. It was the perfect spot to setup for the day
I watched the fog burn off that had settled in on the valley below.
The dogs hung out in the shade of the truck while I worked
Sentinel Rock, about 3/10 of a mile from the parking area.
I packed up and headed further west on VT 58 & 5 and arrived in Newport. Very nice lake community with restaurants, grocery stores, and a nice park right on the southern tip of Lake Memphremagog, a 27 mile long lake that extends up into Canada.
I reserved a site at Char-bo campground, and finally was able to unload the camper for the weekend.
I drove south on I 91 to Holbrook State Park and did a 3 mile hike with the dogs. There were 3 mountain ponds along the path that all were above 1,300 ft. elevation.
I settled in at the campground over the weekend. Nice spot, but will be moving out on Monday.
